I noticed this post from Carlos about the pope’s upcoming visit to Brazil. I sent him a news article this morning that has this text-
Pope Won’t See Homeless and Street Children in SP
In his visit to the Sé cathedral in São Paulo, Pope Benedict XI won’t see the individuals who usually surround the church. Homeless and street children who live in the area will be removed by the Federal Police as security measure hours before the arrival of the head of the Catholic Church.
My take on this is that it’s not the pope that is mandating this. It’s the Brazilian government who wants to hide their true problems from the Pope. I think it would be much more effective to leave the city problems the way they are, so the leader can see what is really going on. The power of prayer, especially from a great man such as the Pope works miracles.
